October Exhibition
Luminous!
October 1 - November 2
This exhibition celebrates the brilliant arc of Northwest art glass from its exhilarating beginnings in the early 1980’s to its reputation today as a preeminent world center for studio art glass. Work by early masters Robert Carlson, Steven Maslach, and Keke Cribbs and recent work from Trenton Quiocho, Gregory Lastrapes and Alicia Lomne are shown with atmospheric abstract paintings from Port Townsend artist Jeanne Toal. Student glass art from Hilltop Artists (Tacoma) is showcased in the BAC retail gallery.
LUMINOUS! is presented at BAC as part of REFRACT SEATTLE: The Glass Experience, happening throughout Puget Sound October 15-18, 2026. Celebrate Refract on Bainbridge at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, BARN, and Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Presented each October, REFRACT is organized by Chihuly Garden and Glass and Visit Seattle, and showcases hundreds of arts organizations and artists hosting events throughout the region. Puget Sound Book Artists Exhibit
September 25-October 30
In conjunction with the Bainbridge Island Book Festival, Bainbridge Arts & Crafts is hosting an exhibit of artist made books by Puget Sound Book Artist members from September 25 through October 30.
Artist made books are works of art that take the form of a book. They can range from traditional bound books to sculptural works and often incorporate a variety of materials such as paper, fabric, found objects, and even electronics. Artist made books are often produced as a one-of-a-kind art work or in limited editions and feature embellishments such as pop-ups, accordion folds, pockets, pull-outs and tunnels, moving parts, and even loose items contained in a box. Book artists incorporate typography, papermaking, paper engineering, printmaking, fine art, graphics, and creative writing into their work.
Artists’ books have a long and rich history, with roots in the avant-garde movements of the early 20th century such as Dada, Surrealism, and Fluxus. They continue to be an important and influential form of contemporary art and are celebrated for their ability to challenge traditional notions of what a book can be.
Puget Sound Book Artists (PSBA) is a nonprofit organization of members ranging from those new to the book arts to professionals. Founded in 2010, it has grown from a small local grassroots organization based in Tacoma to a vibrant and active regional organization. Sumi Art Exhibition
Bainbridge Arts & Crafts is pleased to participate in the Bainbridge Island Asian Art & Heritage Festival with an exhibition and workshop on the Asian sumi art tradition.
Puget Sound Sumi Artists (PSSA) exhibit sumi art, both traditional and contemporary, at BAC from May 1 – 31. Co-founded by the late BAC artist Fumiko Kimura, PSSA members study, practice, and teach Asian art traditions such as ink painting (sumi-e), calligraphy (shodo), and flower arranging (ikebana).

This February, twelve Puget Sound artists working with paint, clay, glass, ink, wire, fiber, and photography show their skill in utilizing low contrast, high contrast, and tonal grays to create impact, mystery, mood and beauty.
Our February exhibition features art by Theresa Choi, Mikey Cozza, Leah Gerrard, Gary Groves, Larry Halvorsen, Sandee Johnson, Dorothy McGuinness, Linda Okazaki, Steve Stolee, Christie Tirado, Jeanne Toal and Kay Walsh. Experience how these artists build form, capture moments, respond to the natural world, and charge up abstraction through their explorations of darkness and light.

The Figure Simplified with Amy Daspce
It can take years to learn to draw the figure, but this inventive course speeds up the process by getting to the heart of what you really need to know to feel confident sketching people whether working from life, a photograph, or your imagination. This course combines techniques found in gesture drawing and fashion illustration to teach you how to render believable, expressive figures in graphite and ink.
