Retail Associate Manager (Part-Time)

Location: Bainbridge Island, WA (On-site)
Hours: Approximately 32 hours per week, including at least one weekend day
Compensation: $24–$25/hour DOE, with paid vacation, WA State–mandated sick leave, and a 20% employee discount on artwork

About Bainbridge Arts & Crafts

Founded in 1948, Bainbridge Arts & Crafts (BAC) is a nonprofit gallery and community arts organization dedicated to supporting artists and connecting people through creativity. BAC features rotating exhibitions, an art rental program, and year-round arts education and outreach programs across Bainbridge Island and beyond.

Position Summary

The Retail Associate Manager provides steady, hands-on leadership for BAC’s gallery store. Working four days per week, this position supports daily operations, strengthens relationships with artists and volunteers, and ensures an excellent experience for every visitor. The Retail Associate Manager oversees merchandising, sales systems, and staff scheduling, and serves as the on-site lead when the Executive Director is off-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, professional service to gallery visitors, artists, and collectors

  • Share artist stories and promote artwork to support meaningful sales

  • Operate and troubleshoot BAC’s Clover POS system for retail transactions

  • Use Masterpiece Manager to track artist inventory, consignment, and sales

  • Supervise and schedule two part-time sales associates and gallery volunteers

  • Maintain accurate data and communication between sales, artists, and finance

  • Support merchandising, display, and inventory rotation

  • Assist with artwork handling, packaging, and shipping

  • Contribute to gallery events, artist receptions, and community programs

Qualifications

  • Experience in retail, gallery, or artist-centered nonprofit environments

  • Experience working directly with artists or creative professionals

  • Familiarity with Clover POS, Masterpiece Manager, and Microsoft/Google tools

  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills

  • Dependable, accurate, and collaborative

  • Enthusiasm for local art and BAC’s nonprofit mission

  • Availability to work at least one weekend day per week, plus occasional evenings for events
