Jury 2010
If you are interested in selling your work at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Gallery or if you would just like some feedback from professional gallery staff, we encourage you to participate in a BAC jury.
Because we’re a nonprofit gallery, we’re here to help you, encourage you, advise you, and answer questions. In 2007, 255 artists from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alaska, working in many mediums, made $300,000 selling their work through The Gallery. Bainbridge Arts and Crafts sells all works of art on a consignment basis and retains a 50% commission from each sale.
BAC looks for Northwest artists whose work displays a thorough mastery of medium, a strong contemporary style, and a professional presentation. The jury carefully considers each artist. All artist participation at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts is by invitation of the curatorial staff.
Here’s how to participate in a BAC Jury:
-
We strongly encourage prospective artists to look over our website (www.bacart.org) and to visit The Gallery in person before jurying. Do you think that your work would be a good fit at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts?
-
Fill out a jury form. You can drop by The Gallery and pick up a jury form or download one at www.bacart.org/art-jury.html. If you’re unsure about your pricing, leave that blank on the form and we’ll discuss it with you.
-
Call us at 206.842.3132 to make a jury reservation. We limit each jury to ten artists so that we have ample time to consider your work.
-
Bring your work in on the morning of jury between 10:00 and 10:30. The jury strongly prefers to see actual work, not reproduction. All work should be professionally presented (gallery ready). Please include a résumé, artist statement, and your completed application.
-
Later in the day, by appointment, a curator will meet with each artist and discuss his or her work.
